Daniel J. Siegel
Daniel J. Siegel received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his postgraduate medical education at UCLA with training in pediatrics and child, adolescent and adult psychiatry. He served as a National Institute of Mental Health Research Fellow at UCLA, studying family interactions with an emphasis on how attachment experiences influence emotions, behavior, autobiographical memory and narrative.
Witte Hoogendijk
Prof. Witte Hoogendijk, MD, PhD, (1960) is Head of Department of Psychiatry at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam and Professor of Psychiatry. He is also Chairman of the Professional Interest Committee of the Dutch Association for Psychiatry and member of the National Research Council committee on the proper use of medication.
Steven C. Hayes
Steven C. Hayes is Nevada Foundation Professor and Director of Clinical Training at the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada. He is the developer of Relational Frame Theory, an account of human higher cognition, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based methods, and Contextual Behavioral Science, the scientific development community contains and fosters these developments, among others.
Jon Kabat Zinn
Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. is a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher. He is Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he was founding executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society (1995), and founder (in 1979) and former director of its world-renown Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Clinic.
Marco Iacoboni
Marco Iacoboni , Ph, MD, is a neurologist and neuroscientist formally trained in Rome, Italy. In 1992 he went to UCLA to study split brain patients with Eran Zaidel, PhD. I subsequently joined the brain imaging group of John Mazziotta, MD PhD. He is currently Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School go Medicine at UCLA. He is also Director of the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Lab of the Ahmanson-Lovelace Brain Mapping Center.
Frans de Waal
Frans de Waal, PhD (born 29 October 1948) is a Dutch primatologist and ethologist. He is the Charles Howard Candler professor of PrimateBehavior in the Emory University psychology department in Atlanta, Georgia, and director of the Living Links Center at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center and author of numerous books including Chimpanzee Politics and Our Inner Ape. His research centers on primate social behavior, including conflict resolution, cooperation, inequity aversion, and food-sharing. He is a Member of the United States National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences.
Susan (Sue) Johnson
Sue Johnson EdD. is the leading developer of Emotionally Focused Therapy (or EFT). She is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Distinguished Research Professor in the Marital & Family Therapy Program at Alliant University in San Diego, Director of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and Director of the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute Inc.
James A. (Jim) Coan
James A. (Jim) Coan, PhD. Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, is Director of the Virginia Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, and faculty adviser to the Neuroscience Graduate Program at the University of Virginia. He is the author of numerous scientific articles, as well as the author and editor of two books on the study of emotional behavior.
Irvin D.Yalom
Yalom was born in Washington DC. About fifteen years prior to his birth in the United States, Yalom's parents immigrated from Russia and eventually opened a Washington DC grocery store on 1st Street and Seaton Place. Yalom spent much of his childhood reading books in the family house above the grocery store and in a local library. After graduating from high school, he attended George Washington University and then Boston University School of Medicine.
